BURFC Mourns the Loss of Rich Doyle '85
Richard “Ratman” Doyle (‘85) tragically passed away on 3/21/2021 at 59 years old. Rat, from Hyde Pahk, was primarily the “B” side hooker for BURFC from 1982-1985. Despite an early life accident that left him with three and a half fingers on one hand he was able to throw a good line out ball while coming up with some “creative” lineout calls, some that were not well appreciated up Comm Ave at BC! In a rugby club, your participation off the pitch can be as remarkable as your performance on the pitch. Such was the case with Rat who was the team prankster and a fan of singing ballads. For those at the 45th anniversary weekend you may have been fortunate to hear him sing his favorite ballad to a packed audience at T’s Pub.
The Rat leaves behind loads of teammates and his mentor Yukon Pete. Some of his former teammates have decided to make a donation in his memory to the BURFC here and the stories of The Rat will live in infamy among all his teammates.
